Summer is here

The summer is upon us and the village is gearing up for the holiday season; the farmers markets are looking great bursting with bountiful and delicious local produce. Especially the asparagus from David Hartnoll’s Broadlands Farm on Saunton Road. Three generous bundles for five pounds at the farm gate, where children can see sheep and the growing spring lambs grazing in the apple orchard. This produce is squeaky fresh and we are loving the lack of air miles. Bake it wrapped in ham, throw it in a quiche or just a somewhat decadent morning snack - steamed with butter. Deelish!
