May Half Term
Braunton has really been buzzing this past week; despite the mixed weather it seems that the Gold Coast still has what it takes to be a Number One holiday destination.A breezy Saunton Sands provided a sunny skied picture book setting on Thursday and Friday for all who visited – and no problems parking there either. There were queues for the hot snacks and delicious ice cream at Saunton Sands Cafe, but with plenty of friendly staff willing ready to serve, you were not waiting for long. The pinnacle of a fantastic week for me was the Braunton Village Fair on the Bank Holiday Monday. This took place on the recreation ground in the centre of the village and was attended by hundreds of eager folk, desperate to join in the fun and games. The cornerstones of all fairs were duly provided - Bouncy Castles, Bat the Rat, Merry-Go Rounds and Candy Floss, plus a constantly glittering parade of shows in the main ring.It was then back to the relative sanctuary of Silver Cottage for all of us to wipe the pink sugar from our excited faces and relax with a freshly baked scone, home made Jam, clotted cream, and a fresh cup ‘o tea.A great week.
